What I am doing today: Putting the finishing touches on two pink hats for tomorrow’s Seattle womens’ march – one for me and one for my friend and writing colleague, collaborator, and super-activist Nicole.
Why am I doing this? I have friends and colleagues on both sides of the recent U.S. election results. For me the message is all about overcoming the divide – by listening and asking questions. – Not by continuing the extreme rhetoric and stereotype assumptions that we’ve heard on both sides in the past few weeks.
Why the March? Tomorrow’s march is my way to be more engaged with both sides of the debate, not about villifying any one person or one view. About listening. About asking why? About the power of kindness and the power of being present.
Back in March I posted a tongue-in-cheek short-short story relating to the U.S. elections race. It is called, “A Leap In the Dark.” It is a humorous look at what might happen if the right candidate won the election. Funnily enough, some of the things in the story might actually come true, who knows? Take a look!
