A Leap in the Dark, II (status update)

What I am doing today:   Putting the finishing touches on two pink hats for tomorrow’s Seattle womens’ march – one for me and one for my friend and writing colleague, collaborator, and super-activist Nicole.

Why am I doing this?  I have friends and colleagues on both sides of the recent U.S. election results.  For me the message is all about overcoming the divide – by listening and asking questions.  – Not by continuing the extreme rhetoric and stereotype assumptions that we’ve heard on both sides in the past few weeks.

Why the March? Tomorrow’s march is my way to be more engaged with both sides of the debate, not about villifying any one person or one view.  About listening.  About asking why?  About the power of kindness and the power of being present.

Back in March I posted a tongue-in-cheek short-short story relating to the U.S. elections race.  It is called, “A Leap In the Dark.” It is a humorous look at what might happen if the right candidate won the election.  Funnily enough, some of the things in the story might actually come true, who knows? Take a look!

    1. “I choose happiness over righteousness!” Wonderful. Yes, I’m having a good weekend, thank you! I have a breakfast date with my daughter and family, some good family time for us. Hope are/have as well! (since you are ahead of me in time!) 💖

      1. Ah, that’s wonderful. Weekends should be for those good times. We also had a good Sunday. Saturday was too busy. My weekend disappeared too quickly and Monday demanded attention. But yes, always be happy. 🙂
I thought of something else to do for the blog so that I am not totally absent when I don’t have a lot of time to write — short note on gratitude that I can quickly post. I don’t like disappearing. I just need time to write a page on it to sort of explain the idea.

      2. Oooh! I LOVE the short note idea, esp. on gratitude. You are sooo good at that. BTW, do you use the “post format” option on your blog, where you can select “Aside” or “Status” for a quick update? I’m trying that out, just wondered about yours … have a great Tuesday!

      3. Yea! About being present always, that reminds me that I decided this year, instead of “New Year’s Resolutions” I would have a “theme” for how I wanted to approach 2017. And I decided “to be more mindful” would be my theme. It’s hard for me. My mind goes a mile a minute. But trying! 🙂

      4. Ah, hubby was asking me if I only had ADD instead of ADHD. He looked serious. I laughed. I said neither. He laughed. Perhaps it’s an artistic thing 😂 You be mindful and I’ll look at the good even in the midst of not-so-good. We’ll be fine. 😊💖🤗
