“Lately, too much disturbed, you stay trailing in me/and I believe you. How could I not feel/you were misspent . . .” – Joanna Klink, “Apology”

Maggie was still in her car in the parking lot when the text came in on her phone.  She checked it, having newly resolved not to text while driving.

Unbelievably, it was from Zinnia.  How did she still have her cell number?

Even more unbelievably, why had she not deleted Zinnia’s?

How like flocking birds we all are, Maggie thought.  We do nothing but fly up and follow the path of the creature who has come before us.

— not quite done yet, more to come tomorrow –!
