The sparrow landed in the snow left over from the New Year’s storm.  It had a white-gray breast and a white bar on its wing.

Perfect camouflage for a planetary visitor.

The day was cold, but circumstances were optimal for observing.  Earth dwellers rushed in and out of the mall, checking smartphones and carrying packages to return and department store coupons and tall double-espresso mochas in carry-out cups.

Yes, the sparrow reported, the planet was well on the way toward takeover.  The climate warming strategy, which would exterminate most of the planet’s species and eliminate humans through starvation, massive forest fires, water depletion and and an exhaust-filled atmosphere, had been perfectly conceived and executed – by humans themselves.

Yes, it would make quite a jewel in the Krghabilite Empire, once it was free of human habitation.

Report completed, the song sparrow flew off to reunite with the mother ship.

About this post:  who knew that sparrows made excellent disguises for invaders from Outer Space?
