I was lost. The directions Lisa gave me were wrong, and somehow I ended up at the end of the road.
All the signs pointed to disaster. My GPS wasn’t working and the map in the car was for the wrong state.
Sitting in my ’97 Subaru at the end of the road, I weighed my options. Common sense dictated turning around, heading back to civilization.
Yet something about the look of the road seemed compelling. Something called to me. I had to find out what was down there.
I put the car in gear and headed past the end of the road.
